A while ago while cleaning out my grandfather’s boat house we found a box of road maps from the 50s and 60s. All places he had travelled at some point in his much younger days. They’re in really good shape, the paper is starting to yellow, but in a good way. They have illustrations that, these days would be replaced by stock photography. Every little crease makes them better. These puppies can’t be reproduced.

I saved them for a bit and now have turned them into something new again. I’ve screen printed artwork, so far just Lake Superior, but eventually each of the 5 Great Lakes, on to the maps.

The Lake Superior artwork is only half it. If that is what is getting it on to a wall, so be it, but that Lake Superior logo is nothing with out the road map behind it.
